Hi there,
As some of our customers may be aware, Google's Project Zero team recently discovered a vulnerability related to all Intel-based systems running world-wide, long story short - there's a security flaw with the way in which the CPUs deal with virtual memory processing;
If you're wondering how to protect yourself against the vulnerability, relax - we have you covered!
We have now applied the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability patches to all of our locations and need to commence the rolling reboots required for the kernel updates to take effect.
About the forthcoming patches and why they are required, please check here; https://meltdownattack.com/
We will begin the rolling reboots from 9pm GMT this evening.
We will reboot each host in turn so your VM will go offline between 9pm and midnight, it's downtime should be only 15-30 minutes regardless of the time in which the reboot is initialized.
You do not need to do anything, following the work we will boot all VMs in sequence, if you have any issues following the reboot, please simply get in touch as usual.
Tonight's wave will include Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Oslo and Vienna, if you have services there you will receive a ticket informing you of the planned works.
Following the reboot, it would also be advisable for customers to update their virtual machine's to secure them too, if you are unsure how please contact our support team who will be happy to assist!
Kind regards,
Cloudean Staff
